The alarming incident occurred at around 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, when the aggressor walked the aisle and pulled out a cutting instrument and waved it at passengers while barking verbal threats at them, police said. According to a law enforcement source, the suspect shouted one point he shouted “everyone just sit the f**k down” before exiting the train when it pulled into the Grand Avenue-Newtown subway station. The perpetrator fled on foot onto Queens Boulevard in an unknown direction.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect and described him as having a medium-to-light complexion with a bald head. He was last seen wearing a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt over a distinctive white T-shirt featuring a bear wearing trousers and a blazer. He was also wearing gray sweatpants.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest and indictment.

Through June 7, the 110th Precinct has reported two dozen transit crimes so far in 2026, the same number of incidents reported at the same point last year, according to the latest CompStat report.
