Gunman sought for shooting weapon in residential area near Veterans Grove in Elmhurst: NYPD

Police say the suspect discharged a firearm at the intersection at around 2 a.m. before fleeing the scene on foot, running off eastbound on 43rd Avenue toward Elbertson Street. There were no reported injuries or property damage as a result of the shooting.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect and described him as having a medium complexion and build with short black hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt with a light blue floral pattern, blue jeans shorts, gray and white sneakers and a blue and white baseball cap.


A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest and indictment.

Through Aug. 2, the 110th Precinct has reported five shooting incidents so far in 2026, two more than the three reported at the same point last year, an increase of 66.7%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
