“One of the things that we love about Elmhurst is that we really represent the community that we serve. This is an opportunity for staff members to celebrate their culture through food, music and celebration. We do this on an annual basis. The employees all cook and devote their time to really promote their culture, and they get very excited about this event. We also share it with the broader staff members at our hospital,” NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst CEO Alina Moran said. “We want to be able to celebrate the cultures here at the hospital and make sure that our staff feels valued and respected. And one of the ways that we do that is by celebrating their diversity here at the hospital.”

“[The cultural diversity celebration] for the team at Elmhurst Hospital is a wonderful way to thank every member for the work that they do, from the nurses to the support staff to the doctors,” Cruz said. “These folks work very, very hard to keep our neighbors healthy.”
