The FDNY quickly extinguished a fire at Elmhurst Hospital on Tuesday morning.

Units were dispatched to 79-01 Broadway just after 7:30 a.m. on April 14 after a call was initially received from an alarm company reporting an electrical fire at the hospital. Firefighters were escorted by hospital staff to a small fire in an electrical closet which was rapidly put out with no injuries reported.

“This morning NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmurst experienced a small fire in an electrical closet that supplied power to an inpatient unit,” the hospital said in a statement. “The hospital turned off power in that unit for a short period of time as a result of the fire. Patients were immediately moved to other units in the hospital for care. FDNY also responded quickly to the emergency. Normal operations at the hospital have resumed.”

The FDNY reported the incident closed normally at 9:01 a.m.
