Man dies after being dropped off at Queens’ Elmhurst Hospital under suspicious circumstances

Police are investigating the death of a man who was dropped off at a Queens hospital late on Saturday night under suspicious circumstances.
According to police sources, officers from the 110th Precinct were called to Elmhurst Hospital, located at 79-01 Broadway, at just after 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 after receiving reports of the patient’s death.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police learned that the man, aged 37, had been spotted on the sidewalk throwing up. Witnesses scooped him up and placed him in a Toyota Highlander driven by an unknown operator, who took him to Elmhurst Hospital and left him there.
Hospital staff brought the man inside and, despite their efforts, the man could not be saved and was pronounced dead. Police have not yet released his identity, pending family notificaiton.
Police sources said that the man did not have any visible signs of trauma. His body was transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
