Ignatz Forsterman was one of the premier horticulturalists in the Tri-State area. He even discovered some rare species of orchids. He owned 4 acres of land here in “Newtown” which was used for his flower business.
Fostermsan was born in 1854 in Prussia, traveled all over Europe, South America, and Asia to study flowers, then settled here in Newtown by 1886, where is died in his home on March 29, 1895.
